Myke has accrued more than 25 years of experience as an entrepreneur with a diverse background rich in both art & hospitality! Since 1993, Myke has achieved certification as a professional make-up artist, hair-stylist, tattoo artist, body painter and performance artist. Myke embarked on his grooming through a grooming apprenticeship in 2004 and since then he has achieved grooming certification through AKC S.A.F.E., Dogs’ Own Grooming School in Loveland, CO and is an International Certified Master Groomer trough IPG. He has also maintained membership with both CPPGA and IPG. Myke opened Absolute Pawfection in 2012, which rapidly expanded from two grooming vans to two storefronts due to his continuous success within the industry. In 2016, Myke’s love and respect for the pet grooming trade led him to found the San Diego Grooming Academy. Myke continuously advocates the art of grooming by providing a space for high quality post-secondary education and a local forum for social networking within the professional pet grooming community. Myke is and continues to be an advocate for providing complementary services to multiple pet rescue organizations across the county.
Miguel graduated from San Diego Grooming Academy in 2019, he was a very talented student and hard worker and now he works for us! Miguel has 4 dogs at home, Squishy a Golden Retriever Shar Pei mix, Lucca a Yellow Lab, Daisy a Schnauzer and Grenas an Old English Sheepdog puppy!
Miguel Studied at San Diego State where he majored in Spanish. When Miguel loves working out and when he isn’t here at work he can be found at the gym.
Sara is a lifelong animal lover who has been working in the pet industry since 2003. Sara attended Portland State University in 2004 studying towards a major in biology and a minor in business. In 2006 Sara attended California School of Dog Grooming under the training of AKC Judge Susan Scholar. Sara graduated with a certificate in “All Breed Professional Dog and Cat Grooming.” Sara strongly believes that patience, compassion and attention-to-detail are the key components of what makes a pet groomer successful and she is always happy to help anyone who needs it.
Marissa has been working with Myke and our parent company Absolute Pawfection, Inc. since 2015. She is now a regular fixture at SDGA. She handles our day to day administrative tasks, marketing materials and manages our websites.
Marissa has been involved in the pet care industry for many years and is also a Certified Veterinary Assistant. She has a passion for everything animal and loves to get to know all the doggies that come to the academy!
When she isn’t working she spends her time trying to cuddle with Frankie (pictured), her little black kitty.

Alma assists in scheduling, sales, and customer services. Alma studied at Animal Behavior College in 2011 to become “Certified Veterinary Assistant” 2012 and returned in 2014 to become a certified “Professional Pet Groomer.” Growing up Alma was shy, but she loved to be around animals and now Alma has 3 beloved pets: her two dogs “Vanilla” and “Avalanche,” and her cat “Penguin.” Alma chose to work in the pet industry because she has always had a special bond with animals and she enjoys sharing her passion for pet care with others.
Sofia grew up surrounded by dogs and currently has 3 of them: Toby a mini poodle, Luna a Shiba Inu and Dolly a Cocker Spaniel. Sofia knew she wanted a job that would involve her being around dogs ALL of the time which is how she came to decide she wanted to be a dog groomer and enrolled at San Diego Grooming Academy.
Sofia graduated in May of 2019. Her skill and love for grooming dogs did not go unnoticed and we hired her right away! She truly treats every dog like they were her own. Sofia says you won’t ever have to work a day in your life if you do something you love and that is how she feels working with us at San Diego Grooming Academy.
Rosa has a love an affinity for all animals – she falls in love with every dog that comes here! Rosa learned how to bathe dogs in 2014 and has worked at a few different grooming shops and a doggy dare care and she is now enrolled at San Diego Grooming Academy to become a certified groomer! Rosa is very interested in creative grooming and loves to experiment with Opawz pet hair dye on her little chiweenie Vanilla. Fun fact: Rosa is Alma’s little sister.
Donna graduated from San Diego Grooming Academy in May of 2019 her love and dedication did not go unnoticed and we hired her! She is also certified through IPG as a Professional Groomer, her next step is becoming certified as an Advanced Professional Groomer. Gaining the trust of the dogs in her care and seeing the happy faces of pet parents when she returns their freshly styled dogs are what she loves most about grooming.
Jacob handles our deliveries for the ProShop. He can be seen driving around town delivering products to local grooming businesses on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Jacob loves all animals and grew up with all sorts of them such as cats, lizards, chinchillas, turtles and dogs. In his free time he likes playing video games and hanging out with his brothers.
Toby started working here to help his brother Jacob with the ProShop deliveries and enjoys driving and seeing all the shops and dogs he gets to deliver to. Toby graduated from San Diego State University in 2018 with a degree in Physics, he currently works here and 2 other jobs. Toby grew up with lots of different pets and at home he has chickens, cats, dogs and fish! When Toby isn’t working he loves playing the guitar and listening to music.
